This is a continuous wave (CW) radar developed in X-band. It is designed and developed in India. It is designed for artillery research applications. This system incorporates existing as well as new features of other comparable systems.
The radar will be deployed in close proximity of gun/launcher at Firing Test Range(s) and operated from block house to measure muzzle velocity and range of the projectile after exit from the muzzle.
When projectile is fired from gun/launcher a trigger will be generated by flash sensor and acousticsensors. With this trigger, Radar starts radiating. Due to projectile velocity, Doppler shift in frequency willbe introduced in back scattered energy, and it is captured by receiving antenna. The received signal isdown converted in two stages to video signal. This signal is subjected to band pass filtering and thensubjected to spectral analysis after analog to digital conversion. The spectral peaks are transformed in tovelocity values with time stamp. This data is continuously transferred to velocity analyzer software (HMI)for further presentation. This acquisition process is controlled by data input through multiple screens on HMI.
